In Seward, we went on a 4.5 hour whale watch that included a stop at an island for lunch. We all really enjoyed the whale watch and saw several whales. Of all our days in Seward, this was the best day, weatherwise. We didn't have much rain, and it was much clearer than other days.
This is our tour company, Kenai Fjords, named after the national park they venture into while in the water, Kenai Fjords National Park (pronounced Key-Nai). This was our boat.
Luke was ready to see some whales.
It was VERY cold! We all had our heavy winter coats on, along with fleece and long sleeves under. We were told this would be the coldest day of our trip, and it definitely was. Temps were in the upper 30's/low 40's with a lot of wind.
"Thar she blows," as the kids remembered to yell from our whale watch in San Diego a year and a half ago. We didn't see any Beluga Whales as Alex wanted, nor any Orca Whales as Luke wanted, but we did see several humpback whales.
More whales...hard to see, but at one point, the captain found a female with two calves swimming alongside. We were surprised how close to the shore the whales were swimming.
All of the mountainsides had beautiful waterfalls.

Luke was very hungry and ready to eat.
