On our drive to Seward, we stopped off for lunch and sightseeing in Girdwood, home to the Aleyska Resort. Now, it's a ski resort in the winter, but man, it still looked (and felt) like winter.
The resort is down below, but you can take a tram to the top to enjoy lunch. Here, the kids are ready to board the tram. Now, they may have on their lightweight jackets, but they all have on long sleeves and fleece under those jackets.
Here's the view from the top of the tram! As you can see, it still looks like winter. The tram operator was telling us that they normally get 700 inches of snow a year, but this year they got over 1,000 inches! He said normally the snow is melted by late June, but as you can see with an extra 300 inches, that snow is there to stay. Plus, with the cooler weather, it's just not melting like it would with warmer temps. I think it was 45 and definitely very windy while on the mountaintop.

Alex couldn't make his own snowballs, so he would ask Edward. Then, he'd take that nicely made snowball and pound Edward with it.

We stayed at the military resort in Seward. Now, when I say resort, don't think of white sandy beaches...no, this was more of a fishing resort. They even had a fish house for the guys to clean fish after their excursions. It was a great place to stay in Seward; we enjoyed it very much.
Our room was up the stairs to the left.
