Camp Rockfish (Again!)

Edward's battalion had a deployed family retreat to Camp Rockfish today.  The weather was iffy, but it ended up being a beautiful (and very hot!) day.  We love going to Camp Rockfish, and this day did not disappoint.  The retreat ran from 12-7, so we are worn out!  The kids are already showered and in bed from their full day of fun.

On our way to lunch

It is such a pretty place, and it is awesome that this is only 10 minutes from our house.

Watch out!  I picked up Spiderman!

He also got a black widow on his arm.

Pool time!!

Alex was delighted he was allowed to go off the diving board. He did just fine, swimming well, and astonishing everyone there!  The lifeguard actually got up and walked to the edge when he saw that Alex wanted to go off the diving board.  After his first jump and great freestyle to the side, the lifeguard relaxed.  There were a few teenagers who got a kick out of Alex and couldn't believe he could swim well.  Luke didn't want any pictures taken at the pool...whatever.

Beautiful views!

Lake swimming time-Luke was all about this.

This is the Iceberg, a giant climbing wall in the water, with a slide down the side.

That's Madison coming down the slide.

Mini-Iceberg for Alex, He climbed it!

I was all excited to go in the canoe, but then 1-Madison and Luke said they wanted to do it together, and 2-Alex didn't want to ride in a separate one with me.  So, we stayed on-shore, and Madison and Luke took the canoe out.  No flipping!!

Here they come.  Those homes are the neighborhood we almost bought, but nothing that fit what we needed was being built when we moved.

Returning, they lost an ore, but they did get it back as they came in.

After we got out of our wet clothes, we went to archery.

Before dinner, we rested a bit by making cards for Daddy.

Great day!!!  What was nice was that we could create our own schedule.  Aside from lunch and dinner being served at a specific time, the day was ours.  The kids loved the activities and were only sad that they didn't get time for the climbing wall. Another day...
