During our spring break stay in Wilmington, we took advantage of the ONE, yes only one, nice day we had and headed toward the beach. Now, it was still chilly, but it was sunny with NO RAIN. That's a rarity these days, so we'll take it. On the way, we had to stop by our favorite farm market which had opened the day before, Holden Market. I had to take this picture for Edward because he knows what we always buy at Holden Market...
Key Lime Pies...not just any Key Lime, but the BEST Key Lime Pie either of us have ever tasted, and this is coming from a couple who lived in Ft. Lauderdale for four years. Seriously, they are fantastic. We normally buy five at a time and freeze them. The ladies who work at Holden Market as the "pie family from Fort Bragg." Well, they had pies!!!! The lady at the checkout said they had just been brought in. A local lady bakes these. Totally awesome. Well, in all saddness, I only bought two because my favorite person with whom I share my pies is thousands of miles away, pieless.
Then, we headed off to a favorite local spot for lunch. My kids LOVE seafood and even more so, clam chowder. Luke polished off most of this bowl, along with several hush puppies, and a ton of clam strips. You know it's local and fresh seafood when the shrimp boats are pulling into the harbor as you leave.
Alex was our big eater for the meal. He ate seven or eight hush puppies, a grilled cheese sandwich, fries, and then, he begged to eat my bowl of clam chowder (he ate about half of it), and then he ate the clam strips off my plate. Oh, I can't forget the several packets of crackers he downed too.

No doubt, Alex was talking to my dad about something. Alex never stops talking.
While chilly, it was a beautiful day at the beach. We had a great time, and I'm glad we went when we did. It started raining again overnight and hasn't stopped.
